History of Massage - Massage is probably the oldest therapy known to man. It has been used through the centuries. The Egyptians were the first to make reference to the benefits of massage and the Chinese the first to recognise its healing value around 3000BC. Romans believed in its curative powers and the art of massage became a daily ritual for relaxation.
In the 18th/19th Centuries Massage became popular in Europe. A Swedish gymnast, Henreich Ling, travelled to China and returned within insight of their massage techniques. He then devised the principles of what is known as Swedish massage - which is still in use today.
As the world in which we live in becomes increasingly stressful, both physically and emotionally, many of today's health problems are exacerbated by stress of daily living. Unresolved stress and mental anxiety can build up over time and cause us physical and emotional problems. Massage can be used to treat many stress related disorders, namely; anxiety related disorders, restless legs, sleeplessness, depression, pains, headaches, exhaustion from inability to relax due to stress of a hectic lifestyle, digestive disorders.

Touch does more than get rid of pain as it comforting, soothing, reassuring, pampering and produces a feeling of happiness. It soothes body and mind and is considered an effective way to treat modern day ailments.
